Most of these victims are poisoned at home. Some employment sectors are particularly vulnerable to the dangers of passive smoking, such as the hospitality industries or the night-time economy (bars, night-clubs etc).
These deaths could have been avoided if these people hadn’t been subjected to second-hand smoke.

The UK, Ireland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Italy, Malta, Sweden, Slovenia, Lithuania, Romania, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Greece, Latvia, the Netherlands and Portugal have introduced various measures of smoke-free legislation in public places. And it’s working! For example, 96% of Irish citizens believe the ban to be a success. 85% of Italians would oppose a reversal of the ban and 500,000 of them gave up smoking in one year, giving weight to the campaign against passive smoking.
